This role will contribute to the team’s overall remit which aims to optimize operations, reduce risk, and increase compliance within the External Funding Space (e.g., grants, sponsorships, donations, and community investments). The External Funding Specialist will play a lead role and act as a subject matter expert in External Funding with responsibility for assessing, managing, and approving aspects of the systems, tools, and processes by ensuring accurate and compliant processing of requests in accordance with Global and Local Standards and Codes.What You’ll Do:

  • This role will act as a reviewer and approver of all External Funding requests with a compliance lens – assessing each request against the guiding principles of AstraZeneca’s External Funding Global Standards, Local Standards, and the IMC Code.
  • Review will require complex analysis and decision making where requests are unique and not following our codes and standards.
  • Maintain administrative control procedures to ensure standards are adhered to and that elements of compliance program are consistently applied.
  • This oversight role will have accountability to ensure due diligence by both the requestor and other organizations involved in funding requests are completed to necessary standards in the CyberGrants system.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across Canada MC on External Funding Requests to understand the nature of the request and help mitigate any compliance risks.
  • Responsible for assessing the post funding materials from the External Funding Requests for completeness and accuracy of records and liaise with relevant stakeholders on any required follow-up actions.
  • Set up the payment and triage requests to appropriate reviewer and business approvers in CyberGrants.
  • Develop and Support training and communication in relevant SOPs and local market ethical standards and practice to relevant stakeholders.
  • Consult and escalate compliance, ethics, or legal matters.
  • Build and maintain positive working relationship across Canada MC in support of internal processes and practices.
  • Serve as a role model and uphold high standards of ethical and professional behaviour.
  • Independently deliver high quality project outputs.
  • Assume and perform other duties and responsibilities not specifically outlined herein, but which are logically and accurately inherent to the position (i.e. reporting, training, etc.)

What We’re Looking For:

  • 2+ years of experience in quality, compliance or regulatory in a regulated environment such as pharmaceutical, clinical, or medical devices.
  • A bachelor’s degree in business and/or science or equivalent experience is preferred.
  • Bilingualism in English & French is considered an asset.
  • Strong technical/systems experience and skills (i.e. CyberGrants, Microsoft Office Suite, etc.).
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and demonstrated ability to partner effectively with others.
  • High ethical standards, trustworthy, operating with complete discretion.
  • Proven ability to build positive relationships and communicate well with others.
  • Capable of leading and inspiring others, effectively influencing outcomes without direct authority, and earning respect through actions and integrity.
  • Ability to quickly learn and work within AZ administrative tools and processes.
  • Capable of working independently and can manage multiple priorities and adjust workload as business needs require.
  • Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
