You’re digitally savvy, and your appetite for growth, learning, and continuous improvement positions you as a valuable team member in driving our business forward.As a financial accounting specialist, you’ll report to the manager, corporate accounting. This position will support various levels throughout the organizations by preparing accounting records, financial statements, and management discussion and analysis. You will also assist in taxation preparation and accounting system improvement.So, if you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and make a real impact, join us in transforming B.C.’s energy future.In this role, you will:
- Prepare financial information and reports and contribute meaningful analysis to variances from financial statements and accounting records.
- Acquire and apply knowledge of US GAAP accounting standards and regulatory accounting.
- Develop a deep understanding of enterprise accounting solutions and other technologies for information gathering. Additionally, you will improve the accounting workbook and work processes.
- Proactively flag irregularities in financial records and help substantiate movements in accounts for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting to management.
What it takes:
- A bachelor’s degree in business or accounting or a related discipline from an accredited university, plus enrolment in the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) program and three years of recent and relevant experience in accounting at an intermediate level.
- An equivalent combination of education, related training, and experience may be considered.
- A demonstrated ability to gather and analyze information to understand problems and opportunities and implement pragmatic solutions.
- Experience using enterprise accounting solutions with intermediate knowledge of Excel, Power Query, Power BI, and other Microsoft Office applications.
- Exceptional communication skills and attention to detail to engage with stakeholders across the business as you provide meaningful analysis to financial statements and accounting records.
