The RMA fosters a collaborative work environment, and strives to operate as an innovative, responsive, and learning organization.The PositionThe Financial Analyst position will assist the Accounting Manager with full-cycle accounting for our Insurance Agency and Reciprocal Insurance Exchange. This position is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, and reporting, as well as implementing process improvements and maintaining custom software.The Financial Analyst will have access to highly confidential information, and it is expected and required that the information be held in the strictest confidence.Term: This is a 24-month maternity leave coverage. This is an in-office role at our Nisku office.Key ResponsibilitiesThe key responsibilities for this position are as follows:
- Process weekly insurance claims payable batches
- Process daily cash receipts
- Analyze and process accounts receivable invoicing
- Analyze and enter intercompany transactions
- Monthly bank reconciliations
- Collection and compilation of data
- Ad-hoc reporting
- Preparation of journal entries
- Process employee expenses and corporate credit cards
- Prepare journal entries
- Reconcile all accounts
- Prepare financial statements
- Support the finance team of 9 as needed
- Ensure adequate and effective controls related to the revenue and payment transactions processing systems and recommend improvements when required
- Assist in the ongoing management and implementation of the systems and processes to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of operations
- Liaise with all other external associations, contractors, and internal business units to communicate and improve relationships and processes
Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma in accounting, business or a related discipline or applicable work experience and training.
- 5+ years of full-cycle accounting experience
- Experience with Great Plains/Microsoft Dynamics software would be an asset
- Insurance accounting experience would be an asset
- High proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, and Adobe Acrobat is essential; experience with Power BI would be an asset
- Strong technical skills in custom software environments including basic programming and implementation of process changes would be an asset
- Excellent written, oral, and listening communication skills, and exceptional organizational and planning skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
- Personable and able to build and maintain professional relationships
- Strong time management skills
- Able to work with minimal supervision, self-motivated, and self-directed
- Manages multiple priorities in a fast-paced and changing environment while able to quickly analyze problems to reach a conclusion
