Under the direction of the manager or team lead, the Financial Analyst will be assigned accountability for analytical work and strategic initiates. The Financial Analyst is responsible for the creation, management and dissemination of accurate and timely reports and analysis for their department or sub department. The Financial Analyst provides proactive expertise and advice in conducting analysis and developing recommendations to support business decisions improving performance, reduce risks and assisting in the developing of business cases to support improvements. This position oversees the petty cash and credit card program and ensures responsible financial stewardship of IWK resources to ensure proper policies, controls and practices are implemented as IWK embarks on its Health Transformation.Hours of WorkMonday to Friday; 75 hours bi-weeklyYour Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree in Business Administration / Commerce required.
- Holds or working towards a Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA) considered an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education, certification and related experience may be considered.
- Minimum three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in financial administration.
- Experience in a healthcare/clinical setting is considered an asset.
- In-depth understanding and knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS).
- Knowledge of financial accounting and computing (such as SAP and MEDITECH) system required.
- A commitment to focusing on a culture that provides customer service above and beyond what is expected.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, including strong presentation skills.
- Leadership skills consisting of team building, influencing, conflict resolution, goal setting, coaching, mentoring, delegation, change leadership.
- Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft computer applications, with moderate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- Strong track record in project management, change management and execution.
- Knowledge of the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) framework or audit functions is considered an asset.
- Ability to identify emerging trends, needs and challenges and drive and implement innovative thinking and change within the organization.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work with limited supervision as demonstrated through previous work experience either in a leadership role and/or academic accomplishments.
- Ability to function both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities with different key interest groups.
- Able to act as liaison with both internal and external key interested parties to report in an accurate and timely manner.
