Our client is looking for a Financial Controller to join their team in Edmonton. The ideal candidate will be someone with high attention to detail and accuracy as they will oversee day-to-day accounting, financial reporting, and alignment of management strategies of each business entity.Your success will be defined by your ability to:
- Oversee general transactional accounting operations. Including reviewing bookkeeping of either internal or external booking team including:
- Bank reconciliations
- Review of revenues and related accounts receivable
- Review of expenditures and accounts payable; and
- Facilitate proper management of cash receipts and disbursements
- Establish financial reporting policies and procedures documentation to maintain and strengthen internal controls in accordance with ASPE
- Maintain an accurate and complete audit trail of supporting documentation of all financial records and bookkeeping activities
- Prepare and distribute quarterly financial report and forecasts, analyzing discrepancies from budget and/or anticipated deviation from long-term business strategies. Provide recommendations and/or preventative measures to mitigate negative results or capitalize on missed opportunities (as required)
- Prepare budgets and financial forecasts along with monthly financial statements and report on variances
- Review of proforma cashflows, analysis, and corporate budgets in meeting banking/financial reporting requirements to satisfy covenants of financial institutions (as required)
- Prepare year end supporting working papers ad draft financial statements for clients, as required
- Other ad-hoc duties as required
Your strengths include:
- Minimum 3 years of working experience as a senior accountant, financial controller, or similar leadership experience.
- 5+ years of combined accounting and finance experience
- CPA (CA, CMA, CGA) designation preferred
- Experience in a professional office environment is an asset
- Extensive ASPE knowledge
- Proven ability in results management
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent problem solving using critical thinking, experience and resources.
