Our client is looking for a Financial Reporting Accountant who is well versed with IFRS to join their team in Edmonton. The ideal candidate will provide timely and accurate financial information and analyses to internal and external stakeholders in compliance with regulations and standards; optimize financial systems, processes and controls; and contribute to informed decision-making utilizing business information and analyses, thereby safeguarding company assets and driving continuous improvements to meet the company’s financial targets and strategic objectives.Your success will be defined by your ability to:

• Ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data and statements, providing reliable information for internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure the organization’s compliance to IFRS with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards, including oversight over internal and external financial and internal control audits and quarterly reviews.
• Optimize financial processes, implement effective internal controls, and improve efficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
• Provide insights and analysis that support informed decision-making by senior management, helping to drive the company’s strategic objectives.
• Protect the company’s assets by implementing and monitoring internal controls, mitigating risks and preventing fraud.
• Contribute to the company’s long-term growth and financial stability by developing and implementing a 3-year business plan of continuous improvements, sound financial management and tax planning, and effective resource allocation.
• Lead and manage the finance and accounting team, providing guidance, training and coaching to ensure a high level of performance.

Your strengths include:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• CPA or equivalent professional designation preferred.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in financial reporting, preferably within a public company or public accounting firm.
• Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting requirements.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle)
• Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
