We offer a collaborative and dynamic workplace where our values of Trustworthy, Transparent, Respectful, and Collaborative guide our conduct and contribute to a healthy culture.Job DescriptionAs a Financial Reporting Accountant II, you will be responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting requirements, and review and reconciliation of specified balance sheet accounts. The Financial Reporting Accountant II will work cooperatively and collaboratively with the team and other departments to achieve County and Council objectives.Join our growing team in Grande Prairie, Alberta!
- Prepare monthly and quarterly reporting for presentation.
- Assist in preparing annual financial statements and financial information return, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards (e.g., IFRS, GAAP, PSAB).
- Prepare reconciliation and continuity schedules for assigned balance sheet accounts such as but not limited to, long term debt, deferred revenue, tangible capital assets, inventory and local improvements for year-end audit.
- Assist in other year-end entries including consolidation entries.
- Assist with reconciling TCA and amortization.
- Assist in recording capital leases including cost benefit analysis as required.
- Assist with recording developer contributions and land reconciliation.
- Prepare borrowing bylaws, lending bylaws and debenture applications as required.
- Analyze financial data to ensure consistency, accuracy, and completeness.
- Support year-end audits by preparing audit schedules and responding to auditor queries.
- Provide support to report writers to ensure data is presented in the most user-friendly format and verify the data captured is complete and accurate.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, external regulations, and legal requirements.
- Provide insights and financial analysis to support management decision-making.
- Contribute to process improvements in financial reporting and closing processes.
- Collaborate with the team to gather necessary financial information for reporting purposes.
- Assist in providing training to departments, including developing training documents.
- Provide ad-hoc financial information as requested.
QualificationsYou will have a Business or Accounting Degree along with a Chartered Professional Accountant Designation and a minimum of five years’ experience in accounting and finance functions. Experience in a municipal or public sector accounting environment would be a strong asset. In addition, you’ll bring things such as:
- Extensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and Public Sector Accounting Standards.
- Financial obligations under the Municipal Government Act.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Superior organizational skills in order to plan own workload and work around the workloads of others.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to explain policies and procedures.
- Ability to prioritize and manage work tasks to achieve results within acceptable timeframes.
- Ability to keep financial records and prepare reports.
- Tact and sound judgement.
- High degree of accuracy.
- Ability to work as a team player

Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 4:30 with some overtime as required.Closing Date: November 27, 2024Pay rate: $57.03 to $67.09 per hour.Applicants with lesser experience and qualifications may be considered.
