We offer a collaborative and dynamic workplace where our values of Trustworthy, Transparent, Respectful, and Collaborative guide our conduct and contribute to a healthy culture.Job DescriptionAs a Financial Systems and Reporting Specialist, you will coordinate the management (installation, implementation, integrity and security) of all financial systems and financial reporting across all software platforms within the organization.Join our growing team in Grande Prairie, Alberta!Financial Systems:
- Planning, coordinating, testing and implementation:
- Yearend closes for Questica, Caseware and Unit4.
- Upgrades to Questica, Caseware and Unit4 as they are released in collaboration with Information Systems.
- Other maintenance of Questica, Caseware and Unit4 as required to ensure software is functioning.
- System design changes due to business process changes as required.
- Test reported issues to determine cause and work to resolve the issue either in house or with contracted support assistance.
- Work directly with software support and/or service desk to resolve tasks from start to finish.
- Work on integrations between financial applications in collaboration with Information Systems.
- Participate in the design, development, research and acquisition of new or upgraded finance systems to ensure user needs are met.
- Work with Information Systems to ensure system requirements are met for new software or changes in existing.
- Research and conduct demonstrations of enhancements to existing software to support process efficiency and opportunities for improvements.
- Write technical documentation which serve as guidelines for procedures, processes, integration and training for users.
- Represent finance on any new software implemented by other County departments to assess impact to Finance, if any.
- Train other employees on use of financial systems, and internal controls.
Financial Reporting:
- Work with team to design, build and test new required reports that are consistent across all financial software platforms, including budgeting.
- Maintain existing reports to ensure integrity is intact after process changes and upgrades are implemented. Perform checks and balances.
- Ensure integrations that transfer data between financial systems is accurate, complete and reliable.
- Research and conduct demonstrations of enhancements to reporting tools to support process efficiency and opportunities for improvements.
QualificationsYou will have a Computer Science and Technology Diploma or Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training and at least 2 years of experience. A Chartered Professional Accountant Designation would be a strong asset. In addition, you’ll bring the following:
- Working knowledge of IT practices.
- Experience writing SQL queries.
- Experience using various report building/data visualization tools such as Microsoft Report Builder, Power BI, etc.
- Experience implementing data integrations between systems using a mix of methods including file based (csv, xml, etc.) and API based integrations.
- Experience in business analysis/data analysis.
- Familiarity of accounting concepts and financial reporting compliance standards.
- Ability to work cooperatively with users, teams, and work units across the organization.
- Ability to listen to and consult with users to identify needs, requirements, and standards.
- Ability to provide technical information, advice or training to users in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to plan and organize assigned work effectively while dealing with conflicting demands, changing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems financial software.
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs on financial software.
- Ability to assess situations, judge the complexity of issues and initiate appropriate action.
- Ability to evaluate and implement software upgrades and enhancements.
- Ability to adapt to new technologies, procedures and processes.
- Willingness and ability to keep informed of and adapt to developments affecting related technology, hardware, software through ongoing training and education.

Monday to Friday from 8:30 to 4:30 with some overtime as required.Closing Date: November 27, 2024Pay rate: $57.03 to $67.09 per hour.Applicants with lesser experience and qualifications may be considered.
