Job description: Job DescriptionOur client in Port Hawkesbury, NS is seeking an experienced General Accountant to join their accounting team. This is a permanent opportunity and ideal for skilled accountant with proven experience, a desire to further their knowledge and skills, and a can-do attitude.Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations that tie into the general ledger
- Reconciling payroll accounts
- Petty cash tracking
- long term debt schedules to accounts
- Trial balances
- Aid in the monthly consolidation process
- Monthly bank reconciliations
- Daily cash reports
- Monthly inventory reporting
- Monthly billing of major distributors in order to maximize supplier discounts
- Reconcile month end inventory reporting vs billing
- Provide information and analysis to operational groups as requested
- Budgeting and forecasting support
- Assist with various accounting projects and initiatives
- Provide assistance with inquiries from internal and external customers and vendors as needed
- Developing ad-hoc reports as requested
- Special projects and other responsibilities
Experience & Attributes for Success:
- 3-5 years of finance and accounting experience
- Degree or Diploma in a related field
- Accounting designation is considered an asset
- Experience with Great Plains is considered an asset
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal skills required
- High level of self-motivation and energy
- Ability to work in a team environment
