As our growth creates new career opportunities, likely there is the right one for you!Functional SummaryReporting to the Senior Accountant of the activity, the accountant is responsible for providing support to the Finance department. This position works closely with both the regional offices as well as the Head Office Accounting team, to ensure all transactions are handled in a timely and professional manner. The General Accountant will additionally deal with highly confidential information, in compliance with local privacy legislation and company policy.Key Requirements and Responsibilities:The responsibilities of the General Accountant include, but are not limited to:· Working with Senior Accountant of the activity to process transactions as directed.· Assist in the preparation of monthly financial close, reporting and general ledger reconciliation ensuring accuracy and timeliness.· Prepare and submit weekly reports as needed.· Strong knowledge of Manufacturing Environment ERP system as related to accounting.· Experience in Cost accounting in manufacturing or construction related activity.· Analyzing and posting accounting transactions into accounting system as directed.· Advanced Microsoft Excel skill, will be responsible for maintaining various excel data spread sheets, including updating and validating information as directed.· Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.· Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.· Other Accounting and Administration duties as required.Safety and Teamwork:· Promote, execute and adhere to the company’s safety program, and encourage all employees, sub-contractors and consultants to adopt safety as a culture.· Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally injure oneself, or endanger the wellbeing of others.· Participate as an integral member of the team, and contribute towards the success of the organization, which may involve the provision of other technical and administrative support, as required.· Collaborate with any project teams on other special initiatives, as required.Technical Knowledge:· Proven Accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing or construction environment· Strong knowledge of Financial and Cost Accounting principles· Advanced excel skill, competence in MS office and software systems in manufacturing environment.QualificationsEducation, Training and Certifications· Enrolled in CPA program,Work Experience· Minimum 2+ years of staff accountant experience in manufacturingSkills and Abilities· Interpersonal skills · Time Management · Data entry and bookkeeping · Organizational skills Demonstrate professionalism · Ability to work with deadlines · Accountability and dependability · Punctual and timely · Demonstrate initiative · Communication skills · Critical thinking · Interpret and follow instructions · Recordkeeping · Mathematical and accounting skills · Accomplish goals in a team environment · High attention to detail and accuracy · Analytical and problem solving skills · Multi-task and set priorities effectivelyWorking Conditions· Overtime as required.· Work is performed in an indoor setting and may include a combination of standing, sitting and waking.
