Job description: Job Summary:As a General Accountant, you will be an integral part of the Finance team. You will apply your strong accounting skills, meticulous attention to detail and knowledge of the full-cycle accounting process to complete a diverse range of duties within the team. You are a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and can work well independently too. You excel in a dynamic and fast-paced environment and are constantly looking to drive process improvements and efficiencies.How You Will Make an Impact:

  • Champion the monthly/quarterly financial close process.
  • Prepare, reconcile and analyze various financial accounts, intercompany transactions, reports and supporting documentation.
  • Preparation and review of journal entries, including consolidation and elimination entries for various global entities.
  • Own the treasury function, including management of multiple global bank accounts and implement appropriate treasury and fraud controls.
  • Maintain the investment policy, ensuring compliance against the policy and providing reporting on a regular cadence.
  • Champion the set-up and coordination of bank accounts including foreign exchange, reconciliations, assistance with cash forecasting, and monitoring of banking activities to detect irregularities.
  • Key player in the design, implementation and review of the control environment for the company’s core accounting functions.
  • Key player in the implementation of accounting systems or software to ensure seamless financial operations.
  • Assist with the company’s consolidated and statutory audits, including compilation of supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Support the Accounts Payable function to ensure invoices and accruals are accurate and vendor payment processes are streamlined.
  • Coordinate with the Equity Administration team to ensure timely and accurate recording of equity and stock-based compensation transactions.
  • Possess a deep understanding of business processes and the ability to propose and implement process and system improvements to support efficiency and effectiveness in day-to-day activities.
  • Communicate, co-operate and collaborate effectively across the Finance department with minimal supervision, including but not limited to the Financial Planning & Analysis team and the External Reporting team.
  • Ad hoc duties and projects as assigned.

What You’ll Bring to the Role:

  • Relevant accounting experience:
  • Experience with IFRS
  • Experience in a global, multi-currency organization is an asset
  • An exceptional ability to handle multiple objectives in a fast-paced environment
  • A team-player attitude with strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Keen interest in process improvement and demonstrated ability to think innovatively
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to allow for the accurate and timely preparation of financial information
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills allowing you to solve complex problems
  • Advanced experience with MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Experience with NetSuite is an asset

Education Recommendations:

  • Postsecondary education in business and finance/accounting
  • Completion of CPA designation, or completion of professional exams and nearing completion of practical experience requirements
