Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Geomatic Engineer to lead and oversee the technical execution of geomatics projects across a diverse portfolio that includes oil & gas, architectural retrofits, manufacturing, and food processing facilities. This role is designed for a professional with strong geomatics expertise, capable of acting as a signing authority and guiding projects from kickoff through to final deliverables. The position offers flexibility, starting at approximately 20 hours per week with potential to scale to full-time as project volume increases. It can be remote, with no mandatory office days, ideal for professionals seeking autonomy and technical leadership.Responsibilities

• Initiate project planning and review plot plans.
• Determine and resolve datum inconsistencies.
• Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure alignment.
• Draft detailed work instructions for field crews.
• Support field coordination and oversee authentication of deliverables through Digital Authentication Reports (DARs).
• Optionally participate in site visits or client-facing activities.

Essential Skills

• Must be registered with APEGA as a P.Eng, EIT, or PNG Tech.
• Legally authorized to sign and approve authenticated work products (DARs).
• Experience in terrestrial laser scanning.
• Ability to process remote sensing data (terrestrial and UAV).
• Strong understanding of construction survey methodologies and geodetic principles.
• 4-5 years of construction survey experience.
• Proficiency in core surveying software.
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
• Strong communication skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with UAV (Drone) operations.
• Experience with DAR creation.
• Client-facing personality.
• Field experience (optional but valued).
• Project management exposure.
• Experience with software like Cyclone, Scene, Trimble RealWorks.

Work EnvironmentThe work environment is highly collaborative and flexible, with team members working remotely and communicating via Microsoft Teams. The core team size fluctuates between 6 to 12 people, including long-term contractors and collaborators across Alberta and BC.
