Job description: Junior AccountantHassey Property Group, a prominent Barrie & surrounding area property management group, is seeking a dedicatedand professional individual to join the growing team as a Junior Accountant. Reporting directly to the FinancialController, the Accountant is responsible for all accounting services for the group of companies. This company offers:

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performing all functions relating to accounts payable
  • Performing all functions relating to accounts receivable, including tenant receivables and monthly receivable postings
  • Preparing bank reconciliations for all managed properties
  • Posting and tracking work orders and tenant chargebacks
  • Preparing and remitting property tax payments for all managed properties and internal companies
  • Assisting with month-end and year-end procedures
  • Assisting with preparing and maintaining all accounting and financial records for all managed properties and internal companies
  • Assisting with all other administrative functions and special projects, as assigned

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in finance & accounting, or a related field
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role; prior property management work experience will be considered an asset
  • A strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements
  • Must have a high degree of proficiency with Excel

  • A dedicated problem-solver with a strong degree of analytical skills

  • Ability to liaise and clearly communicate with all levels of internal and external contacts
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Possess a high level of professionalism and integrity while maintaining confidential information of all company related matters
