Job description: HR Operations SpecialistWe are seeking a highly skilled and dynamic HR Operations Specialist for a full-time position based in Edmonton, Alberta. This role will initially focus on assisting all departments with managing HR operations and then transition into a role with a heavy focus on labour relations.Your success will be defined by your ability to:

  • Oversee the day-to-day HR functions, focusing on employee relations, performance management, and compliance within both unionized and non-unionized settings.
  • Manage union interactions, including handling grievances, preparing for arbitration, and ensuring compliance with collective agreements.
  • Investigate and resolve grievances in a timely manner, working with union representatives to find mutually acceptable solutions.
  • Prepare for arbitration by gathering evidence, coordinating with legal teams, and representing the company during hearings.
  • Assist in contract negotiations and renewals of collective agreements, aligning company policies with union requirements.
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with union representatives to ensure a collaborative environment.
  • Lead the full recruitment process, from job postings to onboarding new employees.
  • Assist in developing, communicating, and enforcing HR policies and procedures throughout the organization.

Your strengths include:

  • At least 3 years of experience in HR operations, with significant experience in unionized environments.
  • Proven ability to manage HR processes and systems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to make decisions in a dynamic setting.
  • Familiarity with HR software, particularly Findd, is an asset but not required.
  • CHRP certification or equivalent HR certification is an asset but not mandatory.
  • A valid driver’s license is required, as travel to various job sites may be required.
  • On-site presence at the Edmonton head office is required.
