Job description: Intermediate Accountant wanted!ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYMy client, a well-known name in the timber products industry is seeking a driven Intermediate Accountant to join our finance and office team in your office location near ChilliwackABOUT THE ROLEThe role involves managing accounts payable and receivable, including reconciliations. The candidate will handle all AP/AR tasks, make payments to CRA, WorkSafeBC, and MOF, prepare and enter journal entries, and provide data analysis for senior team members to aid in decision-making. Additional duties may include project work and various ad hoc reporting.RESPONSIBILITIES
- Entry and reconciliation of accounts receivable and payable, including some invoicing.
- Processing payments to government agencies like the Receiver General and WorkSafeBC, as well as to suppliers and contractors.
- Managing employee payroll and expense accounts.
- Handling banking requirements and bank reconciliation.
- Supporting ad hoc projects and reporting.
- Addressing and correcting account discrepancies.
- Providing additional support as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- At least 4 years of accounting experience; an accounting degree or enrollment in the CPA program is preferred. Previous logging industry experience is an asset.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), with strong Excel skills.
- Strong technical skills for calculating, posting, and managing financial records.
- Detail-oriented with excellent data entry skills.
- Outstanding organizational, prioritizing, and time management abilities.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Adaptability to change.
- Motivation to handle a variety of tasks and projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
COMPENSATION
- Around $70,000+
