Number of positions available: 1The Opportunity:As a part of the Finance team at the Richmond Olympic Oval you will ensure the precise and timely execution of the finance and accounting functions, you will handle a range of day-to-day and period-end accounting tasks. This includes maintaining accuracy in financial data, generating timely and insightful financial reports, and contributing to effective financial management. Your role will be crucial in delivering reliable financial information and supporting the overall financial integrity of the organization.The Role:

  • Oversee purchase order issuance; Manage and approve purchase orders ensuring accuracy and compliance with procedures.
  • Payroll administration; Assist with bi-weekly payroll processing, reconciliation, remittances for T4’s, pensions, and statutory/government reporting.
  • Accounts management; Handle Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions efficiently.
  • Petty cash management; serve as petty cash custodian, performing regular reconciliation to ensure accuracy.
  • Expense reporting; prepare and reconcile expense reports and Visa statements to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Audit preparation; prepare internal and external audit working papers, and coordinate with external auditors, as required.
  • Financial analysis and reporting; conduct financial analysis and generate various report including but not limited to financial statements, budgets, and expense reports.
  • Month-end closing; execute period-end closing procedures, including but not limited to month-end journal entries and reconciliation for accounts, balance sheets and income statements.
  • Process improvement; identify and implement opportunities to streamline business processes, including researching and interpreting accounting standards.
  • Special projects and support; complete special projects and provide assistance to Finance and other Oval departments, as well as senior management on various duties.

The Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related discipline.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA – CA, CGA, or CMA) or completion within one (1) year.
  • Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience in full-cycle accounting.
  • A minimum of two (2) years experience with full-cycle payroll.
  • Experience with SAGE 300 is an asset.
  • Capable of multitasking and performing under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team.
  • Strong ability to apply sound accounting principles and professional judgment to all tasks and assignments.
  • Must be able to complete a successful Criminal Record Check
