Job description: We’re looking for an in-office Intermediate Accountant for a downtown based Edmonton client in the non for-profit sector.Our client is a well-established and evolving organization committed to their team and clients. The Intermediate Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing full-cycle accounting, and supporting financial reporting and analysis. This position ensures compliance, supports budgeting and forecasting, and contributes to audit preparation and process improvements.Intermediate Accountant responsibilities:

  • Process vendor payments, manage cash applications, and reconcile accounts.
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and financial adjustments.
  • Conduct monthly financial analyses and assist with reporting for leadership.
  • Support grant reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
  • Assist with year-end audit preparation and compliance requirements.
  • Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and expense reimbursements.
  • Manage credit card reconciliations and ensure proper expense documentation.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and financial process improvements.
  • Support financial projects and perform additional accounting duties as needed.

The successful candidate has:

  • An accounting diploma or degree.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of full cycle accounting Canadian experience is a must.
  • Experience in a non-for-profit organization with an understanding of restricted and non-restricted funding.
  • Experience in a public accounting firm and non for profit are ideal.
  • Strong critical thinking skills, able to trouble shoot and experienced with full cycle accounting is a must.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment where a sense of urgency is required.
  • Must be able to wear many hats and shift gears quickly as priorities change.
  • Strong tech skills, experience with software conversion and QuickBooks is preferred.
  • Power User Excel abilities is a must.
  • Strong communication skills, a positive attitude and a high attention to detail.
  • Able to work in an office in downtown Edmonton.

Compensation and benefits:

  • The discussed salary range is $75,000 – $85,000 depending on experience.
  • Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered.
