Job description: Transdev Canada is hiring an Intermediate Accountant at our head office in Calgary!We are seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join our team! This role is an integral part of our Finance and Accounting team who will help deliver exceptional support to our business partners. This position will be responsible for preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, maintaining the general ledger, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting. Areas of focus for the position will include fuel, fixed assets, intercompany management fees, GST and PST filings and other duties as assigned. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of accounting principles and be capable of working independently while also collaborating with both the team and our business partners. This role is ideal for someone looking to grow their accounting career and take on more responsibility within a dynamic finance team!Your role

  • Responsible for month end journal entries preparation, including analysis to substantiate the appropriateness of the financial data.
  • Perform periodic reconciliations of various balance sheet accounts to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage intercompany transactions and management fee accounting; communicating with other related entities to ensure that transactions are properly captured.
  • Oversee the setup, disposal, and transfer of fixed assets in the accounting system; collaborate with business partners and reconcile fixed asset accounts.
  • Prepare monthly PST and GST filings for various legal entities.
  • Assist in the monthly forecasting process by evaluating changes to financial expectations and preparing models necessary adjustments.
  • Provide data and insights to support the annual budget cycle and inform relevant areas.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable and Receivable tasks as needed.
  • Prepare and provide necessary working papers and documentation to support external auditors during the year-end audit.

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • CPA designation or similar or working towards designation, preferred.
  • 2-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or Oracle) and Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Power Point, Power BI and other relevant software.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and other relevant accounting principles.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and financial software applications; experience with ERP systems preferred.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team environment and build positive relationships across the organization.
