Job description: Hopewell Real Estate Services is seeking an Intermediate Property Accountant to join the team!As a member of the accounting department, you will play a role in comprehensive financial management, including the preparation of monthly financial statements and annual financial reports. This role will be responsible for managing bank reconciliations, tenant billing, and Common Area Maintenance (CAM) recovery models, ensuring timely accruals and adjustments.If you have a strong background in full-cycle accounting, and a passion for accuracy and attention to detail, we want to hear from you!Please note: This role is based out of Calgary, AB, directly reporting to the Accounting Lead.As our Intermediate Property Accountant, your daily responsibilities will include:
- Preparing monthly financial statements in an accurate and timely manner.
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and year end working paper and reporting packages.
- Preparing monthly accruals and adjusting entries.
- Preparing bank reconciliations.
- Preparing annual budgets and tenant pre-billings.
- Set-up and maintain Common Area Maintenance (CAM) recovery models.
- Prepare annual CAM recoveries.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules, including amortization of fixed assets.
- Analysis of A/R & A/P and preparation of detailed account reconciliations when required.
- The aptitude to comprehend commercial lease agreements and other legal documents.
- Ensure timely GST reconciliation, filing, and process in Yardi Payscan.
- Preparing annual year-end audit working papers.
- Preparing annual financial statements.
- Reviewing leases and setting up tenant and charges in accounting software when required.
- Ad hoc project and other duties as required.
On your resume, we ask that you demonstrate the following:
- 3 – 5+ years of full-cycle accounting, preferably, in property management
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Commerce, Business Administration, Accounting, or similar
- Working knowledge of commercial leases and CAM recoveries
- Strong working knowledge of real estate accounting software (Yardi experience is a significant asset) and Microsoft Office applications
