Job description: OverviewAs the IRI Analyst you will provide a high-level of personalized customer service to self-employed claimants, and independently processes and calculates a number of complex Income Replacement Indemnity (IRI) related entitlement calculations. You will provide guidance regarding financial information requirements, calculations, payment processing, and legislative guidelines. You will be responsible for participating in internal and external communications, performs financial reviews and forensic audits, and provides input and information regarding claims coverage and other investigations. You will contribute to a collaborative team environment and regularly provides input and shares IRI, accounting, and taxation expertise with others, including quality and technical review of resources in the IRI Unit.Responsibilities

  • Attends initial meetings with self-employed claimants, Case Managers, and/or other external third parties to gather information, investigate entitlement to IRI, and explain IRI benefits.
  • Reviews, verifies, and reconciles income and financial data against claimant statements and type of employment to determine IRI calculations ensuring that the claimant is indemnified as accurately as possible within the MPI legislation.
  • Classifies claimant or deceased and determines appropriate indemnity entitlements in compliance with legislative guidelines, etc. Where unique scenarios arise, makes independent decisions regarding entitlement calculations.
  • Responds to escalated customer concerns.
  • Reviews, provides feedback, and approves calculations and reconciliations prepared by the IRI Calculator and Senior IRI Calculator.
  • Acts as a technical resource within the IRI Unit and for special project assignments.
  • Provides guidance and expertise to Case Managers, claimants, and any external third party representatives and explains financial information requirements, calculations, payment processing, and legislative guidelines.
  • Evaluates claimants’ financial income history and documents. Prepares detailed financial reviews and forensic audits to detect potential fraud.
  • Collects information and explains entitlements to claimants.

Qualifications

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Four years practical experience applying the Income Tax Act of Canada and accounting principles and practices, and performing financial reporting and auditing, including one year experience in the IRI Unit.
  • Working knowledge of related legislation and regulations.
  • Working knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Candidates must be willing and able to travel within Manitoba.
