Job description: Nikita Construction is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Journeyperson Plumber for its new construction projects with Sandman Hotel Groups in Markham, ON.Reporting to the Site Superintendent, you will oversee and ensure all plumbing work is completed in compliance with relevant safety regulations, company policies, and project specifications and timelines. Effective communication and leadership skills are essential as you will be responsible for instructing and leading a crew of 2-4 plumbers.Your Duties and Responsibilities:Install, repair, and maintain domestic, commercial and industrial plumbing systems and accessories.
Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, plans, and specifications to determine the design/layout of the plumbing system, water supply network, and waste and drainage systems.
Lead a crew of 2-4 plumbers, providing instruction and guidance as needed.
Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes, and wall and floor fittings using measuring tools, such as levels and plumb bobs.
Cut and bore holes in walls and floors to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings using hand and power tools.
Measure, cut, bend, thread and connect pipes using hand and power tools or machines, such as pipe cutters, benders, and threading machines.
Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment, according to the specifications and requirements of the plumbing system.
Check pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges and other specialized testing equipment.
Troubleshoot plumbing system problems and identify appropriate solutions.
Support the growth and development of company culture
Performs other duties as requiredRequirements:6+ years of working experience as a Plumber
Experience in commercial and residential plumbing.
306A plumbing certificate or Red Seal certification.
Knowledge of Federal/Provincial building codes.
Ability to read drawings.
Gas ticket is an asset but not required.
HVAC experience is also an asset but not required.Physical Requirements:Must be able to stand and/or be on their feet 10-12 hours/day working in outdoor weather and/or unregulated temperatures.
Must be able to lift 50lbs and use proper lifting techniques for heavy items weighing more than 25 kilograms.
Must be able to climb scaffoldings.What else will make you succeed in this role:Possesses and maintains necessary tools, equipment, and protective gear.
