We’re always searching the globe for innovative, collaborative minds to join our best-in-class Aecon community!What is the Opportunity?Reporting to the Accounting Manager, the Junior Accountant will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounting functions and strategic initiatives for the Corporate Reporting team.What You Will Do Here:

• Assist with month-end close process, including preparation of journal entries, cost allocations, and accruals.
• Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and schedules.
• Assist with monthly and quarterly reporting and variance analysis.
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual financial statement notes in compliance with IFRS.
• Liaise with business sector finance teams and other Corporate departments.
• Assist with the interim and year-end external audit requirements.
• Build and maintain Business Objects reports used for monthly and quarterly reporting.
• Support continuous process improvement efforts and work on special projects and initiatives as required.
• Adherence to internal controls and related policies and operating procedures.

What You Bring to the Team:

• Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Business, or equivalent and working towards a professional accounting designation.
• New university graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines relating to financial reporting deadlines.
• Working knowledge of IFRS including technical accounting and reporting requirements.
• Accounting / co-op work experience is an asset.
• Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, Word, etc.)
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate information clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
• SAP or Business Objects experience is an asset.
• Proficiency in using accounting software, financial management tools and spreadsheets is an asset.
