Job description: Posted On: Aug 8, 2024Junior AccountantOur client is seeking a Junior Accountant to join their team in Airdrie. The successful candidate is responsible for acquiring and processing customer invoices, assisting in reconciliation of accounts, paying, or receiving payment while applying accepted procedures in preparing and maintaining accounting records.Your success will be defined by your ability to:
- Completes billing cycle by generating, processing, verifying, reconciling invoices, and applying customer payments.
- Reconciles processed work verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances.
- Ensures outstanding balances are updated and accurate.
- Updates financial data in databases to ensure the accuracy of the information.
- Processes financial entries to ensure a proper recording of all business transactions.
- Maintains historical records of all invoices, reports, and cheques by saving documents properly on the network.
- Allocates revenue to correct accounts according to departmental procedures.
- Assists senior accountant in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual closings.
- Prepares and submits weekly and monthly financial reports.
- Assists in the processing of income statements, balance sheets, and other financial statements as per the company’s legal, financial, and accounting guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with organizational guidelines and procedures, and federal and state regulations.
- Assists with reviewing payroll records and expenses, among other duties as assigned.
Your strengths include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance with a minimum of two years’ experience in Accounting.
- Thorough understanding of bookkeeping practices and procedures.
- Sound understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
- Analytical mind with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail with solid organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Critical thinker with proficiency in math.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent report writing, communication and IT skills.
- Competent in Microsoft Office and Accounting software packages.
