We are devoted to making “Safety… Our Way of Life”.SummaryUnder the direction of the Senior Accountant, the Junior Accountant will be responsible for the day-to-day activities of the Corporate Accounting department of the Fort McKay Group of Companies. The incumbent will work closely with Finance Management to accomplish the company’s goals and objectives based on the business and partnership plans.Key Focus
- Prepare and review adjusting journal entries with supporting documentation.
- Prepare and schedule recurring journal entries with supporting documentation.
- Review monthly reconciliations and identify unusual items for follow-up with Senior Accountant as required.
- Prepare government remittances, ensuring compliance with local, provincial, and federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
- Prepare and review the Bank Reconciliations.
- Compile and verify AP & GR Accruals at month end.
- Provide managers and Pas Project Analysts support for inquiries.
- Participate and contribute to process documentation and improvement initiatives.
- Implement and standardize process improvements related to their tasks.
- Assist the Senior Fixed Asset Accountant with other duties, as required.
- Assist with the external audit company on the interim and year end audit
Knowledge and Skill Required
- High School Diploma required. Some post-secondary education is an asset.
- Knowledge of MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook is required. Experience in SAP and/or Power Bi is considered an asset.
- 1-2years of progressive experience in the Oil/Gas or Mining industry in a Finance or Accounting role is preferred.
- Knowledge of full cycle accounting practices and IFRS accounting guidelines, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions.
- Demonstrate aptitude with different software systems.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, including good oral, written communication, and listening skills.
- Strong attention to detail with an exceptional level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and multitask, as well as work effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrates continuous learning through cross-training, learning new skills, and refreshing prior skills.
- Must have strong analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Strong commitment to safety, including personal safety, safety of co-workers, and the protection of FMGOC and client’s property in accordance and compliance with company practices, industry standards, and government regulations.
- Excellent time management skills, with a strong ability to foster effective time management practices for others.
This is a full time position located at the satellite office in Fort McMurray, AB.Shift Schedule: Monday – Friday/ 8 hour days.What we offer:
