The ideal candidate will support our estimating team in handling a wide range of estimating tasks related to all aspects of the construction industry. You will have the opportunity to cross-train in Project Coordination, gaining exposure to the entire construction process, and at times may be required to provide support to our Project Management team. This fast-paced position requires a quick learner who can multi-task and adapt to constantly changing priorities while maintaining a pleasant, professional demeanour.Responsibilities:
- Supports estimators in preparing preliminary estimates.
- Assists in developing/assembling start-up submittals and other project documentation.
- Supports all aspects of bidding:
- Searching leads for proposal and bid opportunities
- Assisting in procuring new projects to bid.
- Project site investigations.
- Material and subcontractor solicitation.
- Performing quantity take-offs from plans/drawings.
- Estimating labour and equipment costs.
- Creating bid proposals.
- Ordering and managing bid bonds.
- Performs tasks required to complete estimates/budgets.
- Assists the team during tender closings.
- Maintains a database of subcontractors and suppliers and historical project cost data.
- Maintains a database of historical bid results.
Requirements:
- Engineering or Construction Management degree is preferred, relevant experience or education will be considered.
- Co-op work experience in construction an asset.
- Well organized, computer literate, creative, accurate, flexible, diligent, and enjoys challenges.
- Able to work well as a team member and be resourceful while maintaining efficiency and meeting deadlines.
- MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) MS Project and database estimating software experience a plus.
- Trades/”Hands On” experience in carpentry, civil and/or mechanical would be an asset.
Expected salary: $60000 – 70000 per year
