Key Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prepare and report capital expenditures on a monthly basis to regional controllers
- Collaborate with regional controllers to determine completed/closed AFEs (Authorization for Expenditure) and set up fixed assets in accordance with company policies and procedures
- Review, analyze and record fixed asset acquisitions, dispositions, and interdivisional and intercompany transfers
- Record monthly journal entries, including depreciation proposals, registrations, capital leases, proceeds, and refund cheques
- Prepare quarterly reporting, including fixed asset and capital lease continuity schedules
- Prepare monthly reconciliation of fixed asset subledger to general ledger balances
- Maintain, monitor and reconcile financial fixed asset records against non-financial fixed asset data sources
- Assist with yearly audit requests
- Perform other duties as assigned
Role Specifications:
- 1-3 years of work experience as a Fixed Asset Accountant or in a similar role is required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
- Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or enrolled in CPA program is preferred
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX is a strong asset
- Experience in oil and gas or industrial services sector would be an asset
- Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required
- Must be up-to-date with accounting rules and regulations
