The Jr. Product Engineer/Technologist will work under the supervision of a Product Engineer or Group Manager and is expected to develop competency with relevant product families, production capabilities, and gain design expertise to support internal stakeholders for product configuration and costing activities. Responsibilities will also include continuous improvement campaigns, product enhancement and maintenance projects, ERP administration, general technical support and supporting larger projects.DUTIES:
A) Product Engineering
– Support product configuration for wire and cable product costing using configuration software
– Process run to order products, understand shop order creation, Bills and Routes, other IFS modifications, and support other general run to order administration items.
– Support engineered to order assignments, including qualification and test proposals, reporting, and engineering trials.
– Understand regulatory product standards (CSA, UL, ICEA and others) as it pertains to product configuration and approvalsB) Project Management:
-Support engineering and project management services for internal team members as assigned
-Support product enhancement and maintenance projects to ensure they are completed on time and on budget.
– Work with industry regulatory bodies to achieve product certification
– Review potential projects and support generation of engineering solutions with well thought out project plan including
- Materials investigation
- Test planning and execution
- Regulatory and code compliance
- Creation of engineering documentation
-Conduct regular day-to-day activities to complete assigned work and report project status (internal).C) Administration:
-Report activities in a clear concise manner through written and oral communication and ensure that Monthly Reports are completed within one week of month end.
-Support establishment and implementation of product approval programs.
– Create and maintain technical documentation such as product specifications, purchased material specifications and others
-Keep up to date on material and product technologies.D) Development
– Support knowledge sharing initiatives by creating training content for broader group
– Support training of team members in other groups when necessary, in areas of expertise.REQUIREMENTS:
- 0 to 2 years of related experience is acceptable.
- Completed Community College (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical) technologist or similar
- Professional Engineer Status (working towards) is a plus.
- Project Management experience (school or career)
- Knowledge of QA/QC systems and controls
- Understand/interpret engineering specifications
- High degree of attention to detail and organization.
- Excellent communication skills
- Problem Solving and trouble-shooting skills
- Manufacturing experience (beneficial but not required)
- Co-Op experience in industrial setting (beneficial but not required)
