The unique position combines large landscape construction with demo, and hardscape. As Landscape General Contractors, our projects encompass all phases and oversight of our developments. This role is responsible for managing all field operations in a geographical location. We are looking for a top-tier candidate who holds themselves to the highest standards of performance.Responsibilities/Activities

  • Manages and schedules labor, equipment, and materials to accomplish production schedules within established budgets. Maintains strict adherence to established schedules and budgets.
  • Understand contract specifications and ensure they are met and maintain customers’ complete satisfaction. The ability to understand contract scope of work vs extra work.
  • At the beginning of the day, provide the most recent plans and/or documents to field staff and provide instruction to ensure the foreman and crew are prepared to complete the job.
  • Ensures all work is completed following safety policies and guidelines. Conducts weekly safety training and inspections on job sites. Ensures all project dailies are filled out and submitted.
  • Investigate any accident or safety violation, prepare appropriate reports, and take action steps to correct and prevent future occurrences. Defines and implements solutions to reoccurring accidents or most common hazards.
  • Works with the supply manager to ensure proper inventory of materials, equipment, and other supplies are on hand to complete production activities.
  • Order materials, equipment, and supplies as needed within purchasing limits. Monitors the proper use of rental equipment.
  • Supervises employees, keeping attendance records, enforcing proper uniform and safety equipment use, and approving timecards.
  • Overall human resource management of field staff within the division. This includes hiring, firing, training, coaching, mentoring, and developing staff to reach potential and established goals for the individual and division. Identify and develop Crew Leaders.
  • Maintains sufficient staff to accomplish production schedules and analyzes future needs, forecasting staff and material needs to complete future jobs.
  • Conducts timely performance reviews of direct reports and takes corrective actions when appropriate.
  • Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and other resources as needed to meet job schedules.
  • Obtain utility locates on needed properties 48 hours before beginning a work. Update as needed.
  • Visit job sites regularly, observe work organization, identify and resolve training issues, and take necessary actions to ensure quality.
  • Respond to customer complaints, ensuring proper handling to achieve excellent customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain daily working knowledge of all contracts in progress, including field completion status, billings to date, and progress payments.
  • Maintains costs within all assigned budgets.
  • Monitors job costs weekly and immediately reports to the Director of Opertions/or CEO any jobs deviating from budgets of time, schedule, cost, or any other factor so appropriate adjustments can be made to maximize the result.
  • Make recommendations regarding qualifying or disqualifying warranty work. Coordinate the completion of warranty work per contract and/or instructions from the Project Manager and/or CEO.
  • Maintain a high level of good housekeeping and care for company assets in the field, including vehicles, shops, field offices, and customer worksites.
  • Stays aware of Best Practices. Develops and makes recommendations for improved work methods and standards.
  • Look for opportunities to expand the service and sales offerings by adding additional crews that specialize in particular fields, etc.
  • When appropriate, communicate with customer on the progress of the project, keep the customer informed of challenges, successes and any other topic relevant to the customer’s total satisfaction.

  • To coordinate and manage all field production activities, maintaining quality standards.To have a complete understanding of all contractual obligations and execute to meet such obligations.

  • Coordinate between divisions to maximize and leverage company-wide personnel, equipment, and other resources.

  • To hire, fire, train, develop, and discipline high-performing work teams; grow, nurture, and develop personnel to reach goals benefiting both Company growth and the individual growth of work team members.
  • To support and participate in the development, implementation, and refinement of departmental best practices in all areas of field operations and safety. To keep abreast of new methods that might be applicable to the Company and constantly pursue new ideas that could be implemented.
  • To proactively identify potential problems within production and find resolution to minimize damage/risk or possibly create unforeseen opportunities for gain.
  • Support sales initiatives with solid production knowledge or service. Identify opportunities for enhancements or upgrades.
  • Manage and track to minimize warranty work.
  • Manage personal effectiveness (competency, trust, communication, etc.) to maximize sales opportunities and develop customer relationships.
  • To provide and maintain excellent customer service. Maintain customers.
  • Ensure all field reporting and records are completed accurately and flow effectively between field and office.

Minimum Qualifications & Educational Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscaping or Construction Management and/or 5-10 years directly relevant experience.
  • 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Experience in business management, including basic accounting skills.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of computer applications.
  • Current driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Must maintain regular and reliable attendance at a level acceptable to the company.
