This is a full-time (~40hr/week, Monday to Friday) seasonal role starting early April and wrapping up sometime in November depending on weather.— Staff Accommodation may be available —Job overviewWe have both entry level field staff positions and lead hand roles available for those with landscape construction experience. All Landscape Construction staff are responsible for contributing to all on-site aspects of landscape construction projects as directed by your Foreman.Pika Landscapes is growing, with minimum annual growth of 10% and a seasonal staff of 30+. We’re always investing in new equipment, are based in the mountain resort town of Whistler and have daily opportunities to create and maintain beautiful outdoor spaces.Generally speakingYou’ll perform work as directed by your Foreman on a crew of 2-3 fellow landscapers to build hard and softscapes for some of Whistler’s nicest properties. Sometimes you’ll work on the same job site for several weeks, and other times you may find yourself at multiple job sites each day. Tasks may include:
- Site and soil prep (machine or wheelbarrow)
- Installation of driveways, pathways, patios, rock walls etc.
- Planting trees, shrubs, perennials etc.
- Site cleanups
- Building fences or decks
For a Lead Hand role
- Assist the foreman in the running of jobs and management of a small crew:
- Assist in the execution of all above landscape tasks
- Assist job planning (task sequencing) based on a project brief and discussion with sales and operations team
- Coach, teach and motivate your crew with the aim of improving quality, productivity, safety and morale over time
- Run small jobs, independent of your Foreman supervising a small crew
- Maintain a tidy, well-organized job site and crew truck
Requirements
- An able body that can handle physical tasks all day long. Able to lift 100lb objects, and 50lbs over your head many times throughout the day.
- Carpentry skills are a bonus
- A class 5 driver’s licence in good standing
- Secondary school diploma
- A work visa or permanent residency
For a Lead Hand role
- At least 1 year hands-on experience building landscapes
- Understand most aspects of landscape construction
- Able to operate a laser level, shoot grades and grade sites
- Competent using most hand tools, power tools like plate tampers and cut-off saws, and earth moving equipment like mini-excavators and front end loaders

You’ll need
- Steel toe boots, rain gear, gloves and sun protection (hat, sunscreen)
- Blue, black or grey pants or shorts
Compensation and benefits
- $23 – $25.75/hour for Field Staff role
- $26 – $28/hour for Lead Hand role
- Staff accommodation
- Weekly payroll
- Overtime pay (1.5x) for any hours more than 40 worked in a week
- During high summer months, work 9hr days and take every second Monday off
- Support for ongoing training and education after one full year of employment
