Job description: Our client, a leading unionized 24/7 food manufacturer, is currently in search of a highly skilled Maintenance Manager to join their team in Brampton, ON.The Maintenance Manager ensures peak performance and safety of production equipment while leading a skilled team of technicians. This dynamic role involves implementing preventive maintenance programs, managing budgets, and driving cost-saving initiatives. Maintenance Manager Responsibilities
- · Collaborate with the operations team to set key production metrics like efficiency, uptime, and reliability for your lines.
- · Oversee daily activities for Maintenance staff, ensuring all Levels 1-5 and Stationary Engineers keep industrial machinery running smoothly.
- · Provide hands-on technical support for all production equipment, prioritizing reliability and effective maintenance.
- · Ensure compliance with GMPs, HACCP, and food safety practices throughout the facility.
- · Work to enhance production line performance, focusing on uptime and meeting design operating rates.
- · Identify opportunities to improve equipment design and departmental processes to maximize asset availability.
- · Manage maintenance budgets wisely, finding cost-saving opportunities along the way.
- · Liaise with vendors and contractors to ensure service needs are met efficiently.
- · Act as a technical resource, collaborating with manufacturing, warehouse, planning, engineering, and QA teams.
- · Lead and develop your team of technicians, focusing on performance management, training, and career growth.
- · Direct the safe maintenance and operation of food processing equipment, following all company procedures.
- · Continuously evaluate and improve maintenance processes for future growth.
- · Implement and monitor policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to the Collective Agreement.
- · Handle corrective actions, including disciplinary measures when necessary.
- · Promote a Culture of Safety by adhering to workplace regulations and policies.
- · Tackle work problems proactively and suggest measures to boost departmental output.
- · Train Operators on safe equipment operation and manage the inventory of repair supplies.
- · Participate in the PM program to ensure continuous improvement of all machinery.
- · Maintain accurate maintenance reports and documentation, ensuring safety devices are functional post-repair.
Maintenance Manager Qualifications
- · Bachelor’s degree: a professional designation in engineering or equivalent
- · 443A or 442A an asset
- · Previous experience in a food manufacturing setting is a must
- · 5 years of proven experience in maintenance management, particularly in a rendering environment, edible oil processing or similar industries.
- · Strong background in rendering processes is essential.
- · Experience with CAPEX management and Project Management
- · Experience implementing safety policies and procedures
- · Inventory and parts management experience.
- · Experience implementing maintenance tracking and work order systems or programs an asset
- · Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- · Technical expertise in industrial machinery maintenance and reliability practices.
- · Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interface with various departments.
- · Experience in budgeting and cost management within maintenance operations.
- · Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in food processing environments.
- · Ability to develop and implement maintenance processes to improve efficiencies.
