This position is responsible for general maintenance, direct program/student support and indirect program support. The incumbent acts as an assistant in the labs and to the maintenance supervisor to maintain and repair equipment, support the students and instructors, support the team to manufacture or fix teaching aids.Key Responsibilities:Duties will include but are not limited to material handling and distribution, stocking and replenishing inventoryMaintaining security of shop/lab and suppliesFabricating specialized items that may involve the use of skills such as machining, welding, electrical, and plumbingOperating and monitoring numerous types of mechanical equipment used in the preparation of materials for shops and labs such as welding equipment and forklift operationBringing in, setting up and removing various teaching aides for the different programsSkills & Abilities:The successful candidate will have the ability to work independently or in a team settingPossess strength, stamina, and mobility to perform heavy physical workAble to climb stairs frequently during the dayAbility to perform heavy physical work; able to lift 50 lbs regularlyAbility to lift and move materials and equipment weighing up to 90 lbs and heavier weights with the use of proper equipmentAbility to operate a forklift and expected to obtain relevant forklift training if not already certifiedBasic computer skills – Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite would be an AssetQualifications:Completion of Grade twelveRelated trades certificate is a strong assetA valid class 5 driver’s licenseExperience in plumbing, welding, sheet metal, machining, electrical service trades would be an assetExperience with operation and repair of sheet metal and welding equipment would be a strong assetEquivalencies may be consideredApplicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).Remuneration: $49,886.20 – $60,364.46 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
