Job description: Job DescriptionOur not-for-profit client is seeking a Manager, Finance & Accounting for a permanent position within their Halifax, NS office. The successful candidate is a strategic and seasoned financial professional with a passion for building relationships and thrives in a busy and collaborative environment.Key Responsibilities for the Job:

• Manage a small accounting and finance team while overseeing the accounting department
• Review and oversee monthly financial reporting
• Ensure statutory financial obligations
• Year-end closing and coordinating the external audit process
• Participate in short-term and long-term strategic and operational planning
• Maintain and enhance internal controls by reviewing and developing policies and procedures
• Provide clear leadership and mentorship, ensuring both team and processes evolve to support growth

Experience & Attributes for Success:

• Post secondary education in Accounting, Finance or Business Management
• CPA designation preferred but not required
• 5+ years’ experience in a similar leadership role, ideally within a non-profit environment
• Advanced computer skills, particular with MS Office and accounting software programs
• Proven knowledge of accounting principals, standards, laws and regulations
• Proven skills in all aspects of financial reporting, analysis, and presentation
• Ability to think critically and exercise professional judgment
• Adaptable to changing priories with the ability to positively influence through change
• Superior verbal and written communication skills
• Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
• Initiative and adaptability
