We invest in our people because they are the reason for our success.For more information, check out this video about .SummaryThe Manager, Budget & Financial Reporting is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the preparation, analysis and management of the organization’s budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting. This role ensures financial accuracy, compliance with regulations, and strategic alignment with the financial and business plans for Bethany Care Society. This role will contribute to the financial integrity of the organization while fostering a culture of service excellence, teamwork, and continuous improvement in line with Bethany Care Society’s mission, vision, and values. The ideal candidate possesses excellent technical and analytical skills, demonstrated leadership and management competencies, and an ability to work closely with other departments as a trusted partner.Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership and Service Excellence:
- Champion Bethany’s service excellence program while providing strong leadership to the Finance Department.
- Foster a culture of service excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Facilitate strong, cooperative relationships between the Budgeting and Reporting section and other departments across the organization.
- Drive financial improvements that align with organizational goals and meet the needs of internal and external stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor finance team members, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities.
Budget Management
- Lead the development, implementation, and management of the annual budgeting process.
- Oversee monthly forecasting and variance analysis, working closely with budget owners.
- Collaborate with department leaders to prepare, review, and refine budget submissions.
- Monitor budget performance, analyze variances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide financial forecasting and scenario analysis to support strategic decision-making and planning.
Financial Reporting and Analysis
- Prepare accurate, comprehensive, and timely financial statements and reports for both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparency, compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
- Develop dashboards, presentations, and financial models for leadership review.
- Provide qualitative and quantitative data to demonstrate ongoing improvement in programs and services.
- Conduct variance analysis and recommend actions for financial improvements.
- Support the preparation and analysis of Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) reporting.
- Prepare financial information, including budget costing and cost/benefit analyses, to assess the viability of new programs and services.
Compliance and Internal Controls
- Ensure strict adherence to financial regulations, policies, and industry best practices.
- Lead audits and financial reviews, promptly addressing any findings or discrepancies.
- Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.
Systems and Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Leverage financial software and systems to enhance reporting accuracy and automate processes.
- Manage financial and statistical information systems to ensure the integrity of collected information.
- Develop, implement, and maintain financial policies and procedures.
What You Bring:Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- Professional CPA designation is required
Experience:
- Eight+ years of progressive experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and accounting, including a minimum of five years in a management or supervisory roles.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in GAAP and Not-for-Profit Accounting Standards (ASNPO), with strong proficiency in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Experience with multifaceted and complex organizations with ERP systems (e.g., Workday, SAP, Oracle).
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, including macros, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis functions. Experience with Power BI for data visualization and reporting.
- Extensive accounting experience managing externally restricted funds, ensuring compliance with regulatory and reporting requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and minimizing the risk of errors.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
