You thrive in both independent and collaborative work environments, leveraging the strengths of each to find innovative solutions to problems that drive our business forward.As a manager, carbon accounting, you’ll manage a team of environmental professionals as a subject matter expert on all things related to greenhouse gas (GHG) and criteria air contaminant reporting. Reporting to senior manager, carbon management, this position focuses on ensuring regulatory and non-regulatory compliance requirements associated with GHG reporting are met.So, if you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and make a real impact, join us in transforming B.C.’s energy future.In this role, you will:

  • Become a subject matter expert on sources of GHG emissions within the organization by developing an in-depth understanding of the various asset types (distribution, transmission, liquid natural gas), operational activities and processes, and GHG quantification techniques related to these assets.
  • Develop strong relationships and work collaboratively with a variety of external and internal stakeholders, ensuring all regulatory and non-regulatory compliance requirements are met.
  • Take the lead on driving strategic initiatives forward, including grant writing, GHG reduction technologies, and technical support on major projects, financial initiatives, and other carbon management systems within the organization.
  • Refine existing GHG quantification models and processes for data collection, tracking, and management. Additionally, you will provide support for forecasting and analyzing GHG emissions.
  • Collaborate with other natural gas utilities on the development of GHG quantification and reduction technology for the natural gas distribution sector.

What it takes:

  • A bachelor’s degree in science or engineering or a related discipline from an accredited university, plus a minimum of eight to 10 years of recent and related experience.
  • A professional designation such as professional engineer, certified professional accountant, professional chemist, or in a related field.
  • An equivalent combination of education, related training, and experience may be considered.
  • A detail-oriented approach to your work with the ability to process large volumes of data and translate it into meaningful items.
  • Experience with GHG quantification and modeling software such as OpenLCA, GHGenius, Workiva, or HIS Sphera.
  • A demonstrated ability to conduct research to resolve problems related to the quantification of GHG emissions or savings for Major Projects, Engineering and operations, and carbon trading programs.
