The top industries in the community include Agriculture, Construction, Real Estate, Professional Services and Transportation.Key ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this position coordinates, organizes, leads and directs day-to-day operations of the Financial Services Branch of the Corporate Services Department. It involves oversight of all financial service areas including taxation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, utilities, customer service, cash receipting, cemetery administration, animal licences and business licences, and risk management. The Manager of Financial Services supervises and monitors the performance of four employees and works closely with the Leadership Team to provide organizational financial support.The ideal candidate for this position is an effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills, robust analytical skills with the ability to make decisions and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines.Requirements

  • Degree in a related filed, such as accounting or business management/administration, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum five (5) years of progressively responsible experience managing financial employees and functions, in the municipal sector.
  • Experience with day-to-day financial functions of a municipality including taxation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, utility billing, customer service and cash receipting.
  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet strict deadlines.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience with Catalis ERP, or other municipal financial software.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards, Municipal Government Act of Alberta and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidence of sensitive information.
