Our highly dynamic, Edmonton based client is looking for a Designated Professional Accountant to be their Manager, Special Projects. The ideal candidate will have previous controllership experience and be familiar with daily accounting practices along with typical financial reporting, including month end. They will provide apt and accurate financial information and insight to ensure business decisions can be made in a timely manner. No day will be the same and travel will be required. - Develop and maintain in depth financial modeling
- Be able to switch between critical tasks quickly and efficiently
- Communicate with managers and decision makers to ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial data and statements
- Provide insight to different business units in different industries while providing Controllership overview.
- Optimize financial processes, implement effective internal controls, and improve efficiency in financial reporting and analysis.
- Provide financial insight on new business initiatives while keeping the company’s overall objectives in mind
- Contribute to the company’s long-term growth and financial stability by developing and implementing a 3-year business plan of continuous improvements, sound financial management and tax planning, and effective resource allocation.
- Lead and manage the finance and accounting team, providing guidance, training and coaching to ensure a high level of performance.
Your strengths include:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA designation.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Controller (or above) role.
- Ability to travel with short notice.
- Public company or public accounting firm experience preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial modelling.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g. SAP, Oracle)
- Problem solving mindset with a can-do attitude
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
