We take pride in our employees and place a high-value on establishing a workplace where people are challenged and respected every day.SummaryThe Payroll Clerk, reporting to the Payroll Manager, is responsible for assisting in the weekly processing of employee payroll accurately and timely, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.Key Responsibilities
- Verify pay amounts, hours of work, overtime, living allowance, withholdings and other employee payroll items.
- Create and securely maintain confidential employee payroll records.
- Ensure compliance with company policies in addition to regional legislation, specifically, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Northwest Territories.
- Answer all inquiries arising from questions regarding payroll.
- Generate and reconcile payroll reports as required
- Must ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the principles of the company’s Code of Ethics.
- Must examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.
- Other duties as required.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Diploma or degree in Business or Accounting is preferred.
- PCP designation, or in the process of achieving is a definite asset.
- Class 5 driver’s license required.
- Minimum of 2 to 3 years’ payroll experience
- Knowledge and familiarity of payroll systems is required, JD Edwards and HeavyJob software is an asset.
Working Conditions
- Overtime as required.
- Work is primarily performed in an indoor setting, which could include sitting or standing for extended periods of time, and extended computer use including exposure to blue-light and wrist dexterity.
- Must be physically able to lift and carry at least 10 LBS on a regular basis and up to 50 LBS on occasion.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
- Must comply with the company’s drug and alcohol testing requirements.
