Most of these firms are well established yet have a progressive and open approach to attracting up and retaining up and coming CPA’s and allowing them to continue to grow, along with succession planning to the next stage in their careers.Typically, these firms have in the 3 – 4 Partner range, along with 2 – 3 Managers and roughly 8 – 10+ Associates etc.The perfect candidate will become an integral part of these team and assist one of the Partners of the firms. They are looking CPA’s who are passionate about providing excellent client service and are able to communicate effectively internally and externally with regard to providing guidance and support on bookkeeping, accounting and all things tax. Variety of Duties & Accountabilities
- Review and complete compliance and review engagement files, for public and private clients to ensure that relevant professional standards and firm policies are followed
- Coaching and encouraging other team members, and providing advisory and bookkeeping support for clients
- Effectively plan, supervise and execute assurance and non-assurance engagements
- Perform accounting and tax functions for corporate and individual clients including; preparation of financial statements, accounting advisory, GST consulting, tax return preparation, and year end file preparation
- Review files prepared by junior staff
- Be available to assist in audits when necessary
- Perform compilation engagements for corporations when necessary
- Higher level tax reporting
- Assist with staff management
- Develop business opportunities with existing client’s opportunities on an on-going basis
- Address Client issues in a timely manner, following policies and using your strong technical skills and accounting experience
- Apply appropriate industry/business knowledge in anticipating, identifying and addressing issues relevant to the client’s business
About You
- Accounting Designation is required, (CA, CMA, CGA or CPA)
- Ideally – 2 years’ post-designation experience
- 3 – 7+ years of recent experience working in a professional accounting firm
- Looking for Managers with 1 – 2 supervisory, leadership experience
- Credibility with clients because of your current accounting, assurance and tax experience
- Curiosity in their business, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills in order to manage multiple deadlines and competing tasks
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with CaseWare, TaxCycle, QuickBooks, and Sage
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and take initiative
- Ability to work well with and assist others
- Ability to prioritize workloads and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Act as a leader, continually focused on employee engagement
- In depth experience in relation to IFRS and ASPE file
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to build strong working relationships with and manage people in all areas of the organization with or without financial backgrounds
About the Job
- Ideally targeting base salaries in the $80,000 – $120,000+ per annum range depending on relevant experience etc.
