- Perform accident investigations and workplace inspections ensuring appropriate follow-up
- Administer MAHC’s attendance management program in conjunction with the Manager of each assigned department
- Coordinate with Infection & Prevention Control on issues related to infectious outbreaks
- Coordinate the implementation of WSIB related
- Assist with training of staff related to workplace safety programs
- Coordinate the Early and Safe Return to Work requirements
- Attend MAHC OHS related committees
- Monitor needlestick and bodily fluid exposures and compliance with post exposure protocol program
- Assist in the development and implementation of wellness and preventative health programs
- Provide guidance and assistance in the development and maintenance of workplace safety policies and programs
- Assist with vaccinations and conduct mask fit testing
- Coordinate with the Ministry of Labour Training and Skills Development in ensuring MAHC compliance with OHSA
REQUIRED EDUCATION & CERTIFICATION(S)
- Four-year Bachelor’s degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in Occupational Health or other related health profession
- Current Certificate of Competence with the applicable RHPA College
- NIDMAR certification, or equivalent
REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE(S)
- At least 3 years of experience in health and safety coordination in unionized environment
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance
- Coordination of OHS activities in healthcare environment an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively train and educate employees on safety procedures
- Ability to conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop mitigation plans
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with safety management software
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure a safe work environment for all employees
- Previous absence management experience
- Working knowledge of Early and Safe Return to Work plans and related legislation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
