Job description: Job Description:Our client in Calgary is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Accountant to join their team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in payroll processing, experience with UKG software, and intermediate proficiency in Excel. The Payroll Accountant will be responsible for accurately processing payroll transactions, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies, and providing timely and accurate financial information.Responsibilities:

• Process bi-weekly/monthly payroll for employees accurately and in a timely manner using UKG software.
• Review and reconcile payroll data to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with HR and other departments to ensure accurate employee data maintenance and resolve any discrepancies.
• Prepare and distribute payroll reports, including but not limited to earnings statements, tax filings, and other financial reports.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters and provide excellent customer service.
• Assist with year-end processes, including W-2 preparation and reporting.
• Stay updated on changes in payroll laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
• Contribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of payroll processes.
• Ad-hoc duties as requested.

Requirements:Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in related field.
• 2+ years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with UKG software is required.
• Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (vlookup, pivot tables, etc.).
• Strong understanding of payroll laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Available to start immediately.
