Job description: Payroll Accountant and AR/CollectionsBC, CANOur client is a successful distribution company. They are looking for an Accountant who will be responsible for ensuring that all payroll and financial data is inputted daily, weekly and monthly is supporting the finance department initiatives of providing timely, accurate financial data to various departmental stakeholders and team members. The role is also responsible for reporting requirements to various government bodies within Canada and the US.Responsibilities:

  • Process of bi-weekly employee pay for all entities (CAD and outside Canada)
  • Prepare quarterly WCB and EHT calculations and filing requirements
  • Review & manage annual T4 corrections and processing
  • Calculate & record Sales commissions
  • Receiving, recording and depositing customer payments
  • Follow up with customers as required to ensure timely collections
  • Review & verification of monthly lead sheets as relates to payroll or accounts receivable
  • Providing credit information & references to vendors
  • Assist in Invoicing of Customers
  • Review & verification of monthly lead sheets
  • Provide General Ledger analysis and reconciliation as required
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls
  • Provide various accounting related assistance to other departments as required
  • Knowledge of current internal & external regulations & policies relating to finance
  • Manage group and employee benefit programs
  • Government reporting and filing compliance

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years in a full cycle accounting role
  • Payroll experience is required (min. 2 years)
  • Accounting diploma or degree required
  • Experience with intercompany transactions
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience with an ERP system
  • Strong computer skills within MS Office – specifically Excel.
  • Solid grasp for understanding data analysis and the ability to interpret & communicate results
  • Understanding of ISO and internal control requirements
  • Works in a steady, even pace to promote accuracy & quality of work
  • High attention to detail
  • The ability to thrive within routines
  • Has an analytical/technical focus
  • Organized, with excellent time management skills
  • Works well within defined regulations, policies and procedures
