Job description: Job Overview:Reporting to the Controller, The Payroll and Benefits Administrator will primarily provide support for payroll, benefits, and WCB of our three casinos (Cash Casino Red Deer, ACE Casino Airport and ACE Casinos Blackfoot) for 500 + employees. Occasionally assisting with HR administration and Accounting.Job Duties and Responsibilities:Payroll

  • Using Payworks, processes payroll for 500+ employees in 3 companies on a biweekly basis.

o Keeps record (and obtaining manager authorization) of payroll changes and reflecting those in Payworks.o Reviews and processes electronic timesheets through Payworks after obtaining manager confirmation of their review (we use bio-clock technology for time capture).o Processes and reviews preview payroll register that incorporates any payroll changes during period.o Generates payroll and paystubs, net pay and payroll liabilities are automatically submitted.

  • Adds new employees, and sets up in Pay works, linking to bio clocks. Works closely with HR to ensure all new hire paperwork is provided and completed in full and maintained electronic employee files.
  • Processes terminations and ROEs, calculates final pay (as required per Alberta Labour Standards) and determines appropriate pay dates based on Alberta Employment Standards, using extra pay runs as required.
  • Posts batch payroll journal entry in Sage300 after each pay cycle and posts the payroll accrual at month end.
  • Runs payroll reports from Payworks for Management Team with Overtime, Funds Summary, and overtime time reporting to manager group.
  • Runs payroll reports from Payworks for records and payroll register.
  • Ongoing training and support to managers on payroll matters.
  • Government filing and reporting.
  • T4 submission and year end processing.
  • Keep up to date with payroll employment standards.

WCB

  • Assists HR and operations managers with incidents

o Wage loss calculations, historical pay information, etc

  • Other HR and Payroll project assistance as required.
  • May assist with Annual Wage Estimate submission.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Benefits

  • Reconciles monthly invoices to payroll deductions monthly.
  • Codes benefit invoice for entering through Sage300 ERP.
  • Works with HR to resolve employee or organizational concerns

Accounting

  • Assist Accounting with reporting as required
  • Provide absence coverage for accounting team.

General

  • Occasional travel between locations maybe required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years payroll experience managing multiple payroll entities.
  • Experience and working knowledge of Alberta Employment Standards (Payroll focused).
  • Minimum 1 year experience with Payworks or another payroll software would be an asset (Peoplesoft, Workday).
  • Minimum 1 year experience with Sage 300 ERP (AccPac) or similar accounting software would be an asset.
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Sharepoint).
  • PCP designation or working toward designation preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year full-cycle bookkeeping experience would be an asset.
  • Bachelor of Commerce or Diploma in Accounting or Payroll considered an asset.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be able to pass a police clearance.
  • Must be able to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to work on site.
  • Must be fluent in English (written and verbal), additional languages considered an asset.
  • Must have reliable transport.

Work Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Sit – Must be able to sit throughout much of the shift.
  • Talk/hear – must be able to detect, determine, identify, observe, inspect, and assess. This position frequently communicates with guests and employees throughout the entirety of the shift. Must be able to exchange accurate information and professionalism in these situations.
  • Occasional ascending or descending stairs, and ramps.
  • Works in an indoor, fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure.

Expected salary: $55000 – 65000 per year
