Job description: Your Opportunity:Recovery Alberta Mental Health and Addictions in High Level is expanding services to include Peer Support Workers as part of the multidisciplinary team. Peer support is recognized and highly valued as an integrated component of the mental health system, accessible to all individuals and family members affected by mental health challenges and illness. Through their own lived experiences with concerns such as addiction and/or mental illness and homelessness/poverty, the Peer Support Workers offer their own personal experiences of resiliency and recovery which in turn inspires hope, trust, and improved quality of life. They will also collaborate with therapists and counselors to support clinic clients which in turn supports client treatment goals. Peer Support Workers are part of a team to recognize, understand and adapt to the changing needs of their community related to mental health and wellness. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Northern Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $6,300. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Permanent and temporary employees working in excess of one (1) year whose work sites are above the 57th parallel are also eligible to receive an annual reimbursement of personal travel expenses to an annual maximum of $1,235. Eligible employees will be reimbursed for the cost of one (1) round trip, per calendar year, to any destination within Alberta. Travel must originate from a community above the 57th parallel to any destination within Alberta and cannot be carried over. This position has transitioned to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. The team functions together to provide treatment, rehabilitation and support services for the diverse needs of clients navigating life impacting experiences. Through your own lived experience(s), and experiences of recovery and resilience, as the Peer Support Worker, you can authentically inspire hope to clients by sharing your story, offering mentorship and support; advocating for client needs; and supporting an integrated and resiliency/recovery-oriented health care and treatment experience.
