Job description: POSTING DATE: August 26, 2024 POSTING #378-24 (CUPE Service)HURON PERTH HEALTHCARE ALLIANCENOTICE OF VACANCYPOSITION: PERSONAL SUPPORT WORKERTelemetry / Integrated Stroke Unit / Medicine/Complex Continuing Care UnitPrimary Site: StratfordRegular Part-Time(Shifts: 8 or 12 hour shifts, Days/Evenings, 7 day/week coverage, may be subject to change)POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of the inter-professional collaborative team, the Personal Support Worker (PSW) provides direct quality and safe personal care in accordance with patient’s respective care plans, under the direction and supervision of regulated healthcare providers.REPORTS TO: Manager, Inpatient/Outpatient, MedicineManager, Intensive Care Unit, ISU/Telemetry, CardiorespiratoryDATE REQUIRED: As soon as possibleSALARY: $28.80 to $30.44 per hourQUALIFICATIONS:Education:– Minimum grade 12 education– Personal Support Worker certificate from an accredited Ontario Community College or a Registered Private College– Current BCLS certificationExperience:– Recent hospital experience preferred.– Demonstrates excellent critical thinking, problem solving and conflict management skills– Demonstrates time management and organizational/prioritization skills.Abilities:– Ability to function as an effective team member– Ability to work with a variety of patient populations– Ability to take vital signs and accurately document, communicate abnormal findings– Ability to perform skin assessments– Ability to assist patients with ADLs such as personal care, toileting, feeding and recreational activities– Ability to assist patients with transfers and ambulation– Ability to report any patient difficulties with chewing, drinking and/or swallowing– Ability to meet the physical demands of the position– Working knowledge of or the ability to quickly comprehend the Meditech Information System– Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills– Flexible and able to adapt readily to a rapidly changing environmentAPPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL THE POSITION IS FILLEDPlease be advised that we are no longer accepting emailed or paper-based resumes.
