Job description: POSTING DATE: May 22, 2024POSTING # 233-24 (CUPE Service)HURON PERTH HEALTHCARE ALLIANCENOTICE OF VACANCYPOSITION: PHARMACY TECHNICIAN(Shifts: 8-hours, Days, 7 day/week coverage, may be subject to change)Primary Site: StratfordRegular Part-Time B* x2*Part-time B commitment: 22.5 hours in a 2 week periodShifts: 12-hour shifts, Days and Nights, 7 day/week coverage, may be subject to change)POSITION SUMMARY: The Pharmacy Technician is delegated, and is accountable for the dispensing and compounding of drugs, as outlined by the Regulated Health Professions Act (1991). Certain duties are supervised by a Pharmacist to ensure efficient operation of the Department.Performs duties, as required, in conjunction with the pharmacists and pharmacy leadership, for the efficient operation of the pharmacy department. Travel among sites and being part of an on-call rotation is required on a regularly scheduled basis.REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Regional Pharmacy ServicesDATE REQUIRED: As soon as possibleSALARY: $34.42 to $36.51 per hourQUALIFICATIONS:Education:– Registered with Ontario College of Pharmacists– Diploma from a recognized CollegeExperience:– Three years hospital pharmacy practice experience preferredAbilities:– Organized and self directed, including the ability to multitask– Works well as a team member and with other health care professionals– Able to work independently, with initiative and within structured guidelines– Good written and verbal communication skills– Computer literate, including the Meditech System– Well developed pharmaceutical calculation skills and knowledge of trade/generic drug names– Experienced aseptic technique and handling of chemotherapeutic agents– Experienced in drug order entry– Knowledgeable of drug distribution systems– Familiar with narcotic and controlled drug legislation and its application to the hospital setting– Experienced with drug purchasing and inventory control– Ability to travel among sites as required– Ability to participate in a regular on-call rotation as required– Ability to keep up-to-date with technological advance– In possession of a valid Ontario driver’s license and access to a vehicle for travel among sitesAPPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL THE POSITION IS FILLED**Applicants may be eligible for Canada Student Loan Forgiveness and Tuition Support Program for Nurses programs**Please be advised that we are no longer accepting emailed or paper-based resumes.
