Job description: Job DescriptionPosition Summary:As a Plant Accountant, you will report to the Controller and play a key role in cost control initiatives at the facility. Your responsibilities will include overseeing monthly variance analysis and understanding the impact of various activities on production costs, collaborating closely with both operations and finance teams. This position is based at their facility near Glenevis, AB, approximately 40 minutes northwest of Spruce Grove.Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide accurate financial information and analysis to support operations, utilizing data to enhance profitability.
  • Collaborate in operational decision-making and long-range planning, including developing annual budgets and maintaining rolling forecasts.
  • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports to assist ongoing operations.
  • Conduct monthly variance analysis, identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Coordinate capital cost initiative submissions, including ROI evaluations.
  • Engage with Operations, Leadership, and Finance; attend daily plant meetings.
  • Ensure timely completion of all required reporting across various business platforms (Operations, Safety, Quality, Compliance, Finance, etc.).
  • Promote a culture of safety, inclusion, innovation, productivity, and collaboration.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience preferred, with a focus on sand processing, mining, or logistics being an asset.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain financial plans.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel.
  • Motivated leader with the capacity to build rapport within small teams in fast-paced environments while holding team members accountable.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret data and leading indicators related to financial, production, and quality metrics.
  • Commitment to daily travel to the site is required; occasional travel to Calgary may also be necessary. A clean Class 5 driver’s license and reliable transportation are essential.
