Job description: The Opportunity:
Our client, a manufacturing Facility in the Pulp & Paper segment, is looking for a Plant Manager to join their team in the Niagara Region. This role focuses on operational excellence, ensuring customer satisfaction while upholding high standards in health, safety, environmental practices, and quality. As Plant Manager, you will be responsible for aligning resources and procedures to meet business goals efficiently and within budget, providing leadership across production, plant services, and warehouse/distribution teams.What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading daily safe and environmentally compliant operations to produce quality products on time and within budget.
  • Overseeing inventory management for raw materials and finished goods.
  • Directing equipment layout, workflow, and workforce utilization for optimal productivity.
  • Conducting product quality reviews to maintain high standards.
  • Setting a high standard of operational excellence within the site management team.
  • Ensuring compliance with all safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Identifying training needs to foster a safe, environmentally responsible work environment.
  • Implementing and upholding company policies, programs, and standards locally.
  • Preparing and managing the plant’s annual operational budget.
  • Monitoring expenditures to stay within budgetary guidelines.
  • Recommending and managing capital projects, including design and installation.
  • Representing the company in community projects and committees.
  • Scheduling and conducting regular safety meetings.

What You’ll Need To Be Successful:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related technical field, with at least 5 years of chemical plant management experience, or a minimum of 8 years in related areas such as production, materials management, technical services, engineering, or maintenance.
  • At least 3 years of prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications; SAP experience is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to lead teams in fast-paced, high-stress environments.
  • A solid mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience with capital and project management.
  • Strong knowledge of operations accounting and budgeting.
  • Experience managing hazardous materials and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.
