The Pre-construction Co-op Student will be responsible for providing support to both the Project Development and Estimating services team. They will provide and coordinate full estimating services on large, complex work and various types of contracts which includes assisting with the preparation of contract proposal estimates. The Pre-construction Co-op Student will work on Conceptual Budgets, Design-Build Proposals and fixed price estimates, including quantity takeoffs, unit pricing, and sub-contractor pricing. They will participate in the tender call, review Supplier/Sub-Contractor quotes, and assist in the award process. This will be an 8, 12, or 16-month work term starting January 2025.Pre-construction services, as the name suggests, are used before construction begins. These services are part of the pre-construction planning stages of a construction project and are very important to make sure any job goes smoothly. An essential part of construction project management, pre-construction is the first phase of the overall planning, coordination, and control of a construction job. Pre-construction aims to pin down the planning of the project and give the client clarity on what their job is going to look like, how it is going to get done, and when every component of the job will be completed.Reporting to: Pre-construction ManagerDuties & Responsibilities:Assist in the preparation of proposals and estimates for the managers final approval prior to their presentation to potential clients at bid closingProvide input and assist in the establishment and maintenance of the project development record system including prospective clients, estimates, proposal tracking and project databaseAssisting in the review of RFQ/RFP/EOI documents to ensure submissions are focused, profitable, articulate, and compliantResearching client and project information to assist in proposals and identifying opportunitiesSet-up the documentation control management system for pursuitsMaintain unit price, productivity, knowledge, subtrade, and cost databaseDevelop subcontractor work scopes for tenderingConfer with engineers, architects and owners on changes and adjustments to cost estimates and assist in the preparation of studies, materials methods, recommendations and costs estimatesAssist with preparing correspondence, meeting minutes and other documentationTake part in tender, client, pursuit, project team meetings, and tender closingsAttend training courses as required by ManagerPerform accurate quantity takeoffs both manually and electronicallyNavigate software packages effectivelySkills & Knowledge:Clear and confident communication, both verbally and in writing, is essential for this roleAbility to manage multiple workflows, tasks and deadlines concurrently and adapt to changing requirements and directionComfortable working independently or in a team environmentStrong attention to detail, highly organized, and work efficiently under tight deadlinesDemonstrate initiative, positive attitude, and willingness to learn and adaptTechnical writing skills are an assetQualifications & Experience:Enrollment in a post-secondary Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Business or Technical School (Architectural / Engineering Technologist / Construction Management)Experience with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel and OutlookExperience with Adobe Creative Suite considered an assetApply now for your exceptional career opportunity!All qualified applicants will be considered for employment without discrimination on the basis of race, colour, age, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, national or ethnic origin or any other factors prohibited by law.The Clark Builders Group of Companies (CBGOC) is aware of individuals claiming to represent Clark Builders to international job seekers.
