Job description: Procurement ManagerOur client is searching for a Procurement Manager to join their team. This role will be responsible for coordinating with the manufacturing, warehouse, and branch managers to maintain inventory. A successful candidate will manage the tactical procurement of commodities and supplies for the organization. This role reports directly to the Director of Procurement.Your success will be defined by your ability to:
- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the purchasing activities of the organization
- Develop purchasing policies and procedures and control the purchasing department budget
- Identify vendors of materials, equipment and supplies
- Negotiate and oversee the negotiation of purchasing contracts
- Participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products and substitute materials
- Interview, hire and oversee the training of staff
- Source, negotiate, contract and execute agreements to fulfill the day to day business needs, primarily for high value specialty materials and services not available on existing agreements
- Lead and assist in the development of instituting optimized processes, including systems, procurement operations, commodity management interfaces, materials, logistics, contract management, supplier management, and contract administration
- Plan, organize, direct, control and evaluate supply chain activities
- Develop and implement purchasing and inventory policies including the development, implementations, and review of SOP’s and KPI’s
- Establish delivery schedules, monitor progress, and contact clients and suppliers to resolve issues
- Analyze the inventory needs based on sales trends and inventory levels
- Maintain an extensive database for all orders that is up to date and provides information for analysis and reporting
- Research and survey buying markets in order to source the most optimal suppliers, in accordance with corporate objectives
- Arrange for payments to vendors for products or services procured
- Calculate annual requirements for products or services and reconcile amounts against available budgets
- Advise departments and business units of lead time required to obtain products or services
Your strengths include:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Supply Chain Management is considered an asset
- 5+ years of progressive experience in a purchasing role
- 5+ years in a supervisory role
- Certified Professional Purchaser designation or registration for the educational program of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada
- Comprehensive experience drafting vendor agreements including the ability to strategically assess and mitigate risk with vendors and suppliers through well-structured agreements
- Considerable knowledge of laws, ordinances, and regulations pertaining to corporate purchasing practices
- Familiarity with SCM, ERP and MRP software
- Demonstrated understanding of integrated supply chain and logistics concepts and theories
- Exceptional forecasting ability with strong analytical and interpretive skills
