Our in-house engineering team always has the Professional Technician in mind, and we are continuously optimizing part design for durability and ease of installation.JOB PURPOSEReporting to the Manager, Engineering Services, the Engineer II is accountable for the completed detail and conceptual drawings. In this role, the Engineer II will also make recommendations and lend their experience to the Engineering team, identifying key improvements, as well as failure modes of parts in warranty.KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESProduct Research and Development:
- Complete detailed specifications & conceptual drawings
- Work with peers on validating completed specification & conceptual drawings before submitted to contract manufacturers
- Resolve Supplier concerns
- Document and capture all EDR’s and ECR’s
- Research vehicle platforms using available tools
- Prepare and update DFMEA, DVP and engineering standards
Quality Management:
- Root cause analysis to upgrade the current product
- Re-evaluate products and identify opportunities for improvement
- Review and compile testing data to quantify improvements that have been made
Departmental Development:
- On-boarding and training new team members
- Guide and develop team’s technical abilities
- Review identified errors and guide team
- Document and upgrade current engineering specifications and standards
- Contribute to Mevotech engineering standards and process improvement initatives.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Post secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering degree or relatable field
- 3+ years of experience in automotive component design
- Previous experience in bearing design an asset
- Proven experience working with AutoCAD Inventor
- Proven experience with APQP
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately in a fast-paced team environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced Microsoft Office Skills
- Previous experience with Product Life Management Software would be an asset
